Future Farmers of America

The South Kortright Chapter of the Future Farmers of America, composed of 27 in school members, and six members out of school, has had a very successful year.

On August 13, 1946, Mr. R. C. Sutliff of the State Education Department attended our regular meeting to help us practice a radio skit. On August 16th Hugh Rose, George Robertson, Kenneth MacLaury, Robert Martin and our advisor, Mr. Palm, presented a skit written by Hugh Rose and entitled "Saving by Cooperative Buying," over station W.G.Y.

At the Delaware County Fair, Edward Nichols won a $50 war bond for first prize in the Better Milking Contest. Our club won seven blue rib bone and $110 for chapter exhibits and demons strations.

After school opened last fall we received a check for $25 for placing fourth in the state chapter contest last year. We also won $70 in the state D. H. I. Contest; and $19 in the state Chick Rear ing Contest.

Hugh Rose and Kenneth MacLaury attended the National Kansas City Convention October 1926.

Our chapter was host to the chapter oflicers of all chapters in the county for an all day Leadership Training School on December 11. George Robertson, who conducted the school, is local county president.

Some of the members have purchased 3, baby chicks and 2,500 lbs. of certified seed potatoes co-operatively, thus saving about $70.

On March 1, five members of a judging to won a gold cup for first prize in the county Judging contest.

On March 21, about 75 members, dads, guests attended our fifth annual Father and; banquet.

On March 29, we attended a county-wide spring rally at Margaretville, where we won the 1947 basketball championship banner. George Robertson won the speaking contest and Kenn MacLaury was elected county vice president 1947-48.

We were pleased to win $100 in the Purina Company's Jingle contest.

The members receiving the highest numbe points in the local activity contest will have opportunity to attend the F. F. A. Leaders Training Camp at Long Pond to which our c contributed 575 for its purchase.

Kenneth MacLaury and George Robertson have applied for the Empire Farmer Degree.

We sent five delegates to the state meeting Morrisville on May 30 31.
